Submissions
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
An Invitation
Recta Fides is a community endeavor. We believe that the defense and transmission of orthodox Thelema is not the work of one voice but of many—each contributing according to their Will and capacity.
If you have written—or wish to write—in defense of orthodoxy, in explication of the Master's teachings, or in service to the Great Work, we invite you to contribute.
"The Masters are vigilant to note in every nation those who are able to receive light, and such persons are employed as agents to spread the light according to man's capacity and to revivify the dead letter." — Liber XXXIII
What We Seek
We welcome submissions in the following categories:
Doctrinal Essays
Explorations of Thelemic theology, philosophy, and metaphysics grounded in the Master's writings and the Class A documents.
Commentaries
Analysis and explication of the Holy Books, the Master's corpus, or other significant texts within the Thelemic canon.
Defenses of Orthodoxy
Responses to heterodox interpretations, corrections of common misunderstandings, and arguments for the authentic transmission of the Law.
Historical Research
Scholarly investigations into the history of Thelema, the life of the Master, the development of the Orders, and related subjects.
Practical Guidance
Instruction in Thelemic practice—ritual, meditation, Qabalah, and the methods of attainment—faithful to the Master's teachings.
Reviews and Analyses
Critical examinations of books, publications, or other media relevant to Thelema and Western esotericism.
What We Do Not Accept
Recta Fides exists to uphold orthodoxy. The following will not be considered for publication:
Heterodox doctrine — Material that contradicts, undermines, or "corrects" the Master's teachings according to private revelation or personal preference.
Anti-Crowley content — We do not publish attacks upon the Prophet, dismissals of His authority, or attempts to separate Thelema from its Founder.
Attacks on legitimate Orders — Material hostile to the A∴A∴, Ordo Templi Orientis, or Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica will not be considered. Constructive criticism offered in good faith is distinct from hostility.
Unsourced speculation — We value informed speculation grounded in textual evidence, but we do not publish unfounded claims presented as fact.
Plagiarism — All submissions must be original work. Properly attributed quotations are expected and encouraged; unattributed appropriation is not.
Political polemics — While Thelema has political implications, we are not a platform for partisan advocacy unconnected to doctrinal matters.
Submission Guidelines
Format
- Submit your work as a plain text or Markdown (.md) file.
- If you are unfamiliar with Markdown, plain text with clear paragraph breaks is acceptable.
- Do not submit PDFs, Word documents, or other formatted files.
Length
- Essays and commentaries: 1,000–5,000 words preferred. Longer works may be considered for serialization.
- Reviews: 500–2,000 words.
There is no strict maximum. If your subject demands length, we shall accommodate it—but every word must earn its place.
Citations and Sources
We expect scholarly rigor. When referencing the Master's works or other sources:
- Cite specifically. Name the text, chapter, or verse. "Crowley said somewhere..." is insufficient.
- Prioritize primary sources. The Master's own writings take precedence over secondary commentary.
- Use reliable editions. When possible, reference the texts as published by O.T.O. or other authoritative sources.
Example citation formats:
— Liber AL vel Legis II:27 — Magick in Theory and Practice, Chapter I — The Equinox Vol. I, No. 4, p. 37
Style
- Write clearly and precisely. Avoid unnecessary jargon, but do not condescend.
- The Master's preference for elevated, archaic language in ritual contexts is appropriate for devotional pieces; scholarly essays may employ modern academic prose.
- Humor and wit are welcome when appropriate. The Master Himself was no stranger to levity.
Authorship
- You may submit under your legal name, magical motto, or pseudonym.
- Anonymous submissions will be considered, but we prefer attributable work.
- Include a brief biographical note (2–3 sentences) if you wish it published alongside your piece.
Editorial Standards
All submissions will be reviewed for:
| Standard | Description |
|---|---|
| Doctrinal Soundness | Does the work align with orthodox Thelemic teaching? |
| Scholarly Rigor | Are claims supported by evidence and proper citation? |
| Clarity of Expression | Is the work well-written and accessible to its intended audience? |
| Originality | Does the work contribute something of value to the discourse? |
We reserve the right to request revisions, suggest edits, or decline submissions outright that do not meet these standards.
Editorial decisions are final, though we shall endeavor to provide constructive feedback where possible.
The Review Process
- Submission — Send your work to the address below.
- Acknowledgment — You will receive confirmation of receipt within 7 days.
- Review — Submissions are reviewed for doctrinal soundness, scholarly rigor, and clarity. This process typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on length and complexity.

We receive submissions from aspirants at all levels of attainment. A rejection is not a judgment upon your Worth—only an assessment of fit for this particular publication.
Rights and Attribution
- You retain copyright to your work. By submitting, you grant Recta Fides a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute your work on this platform.
- You may republish your work elsewhere after it appears on Recta Fides, and we ask only that you note its original publication here.
- We do not pay for submissions. This is a labor of love in service to the Great Work, not a commercial enterprise.
- All published works will be attributed according to your preference (legal name, motto, or pseudonym).

A Final Word
We do not seek perfection—only sincerity, rigor, and fidelity to the Law.
If you have something to say in defense of orthodoxy, say it. We shall help you say it well.
